Official Statement on the Restoration of the Historical Surname
Dear friends, compatriots, brothers and sisters,
I have the honor to inform the public about a historical and legal fact of special importance to me.
Legal Restoration of the Historical Surname
In accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Turkey, I have officially restored my historical surname — Mzhavanadze.
This decision represents an important precedent, as for the first time a person with dual citizenship was given the opportunity to legally restore the historical surname of their ancestors.
Gratitude to the State Agencies of the Republic of Turkey
I express special gratitude to the relevant state agencies of the Republic of Turkey for their professionalism, fairness, and support.
It was this support that made the successful completion of this historical process possible.
Decision of the Supreme Court of Georgia
I also sincerely thank the Supreme Court of Georgia, which recognized the official documents issued by the Republic of Turkey and made a fair decision on the basis of the law.
Today, my historical surname has also been officially restored in Georgia, and from now on I proudly carry the surname of my ancestors — Mzhavanadze.
The Significance of Restoring the Surname
For me, this is not merely a change of surname. It is the restoration of ancestral heritage, national identity, historical justice, and respect for my own roots.
